Abstract
To evaluate the clinical efficacy and side reaction of fominoben-HCI, 160mg of fominoben-HCl was administered orally three times a day in 50 patients with acute respiratory diseases(2 patients with URI, 33 patients with acute bronchits, 8 patients with pneumonia, 7 patients with acute infectious exacerbation of chronic bronchitis). The administration period ranged from 5 days to 14 days and for most cases it was 7 days. Before and after the administration of fominoben, complete blood count and platelet count were per-formed in all cases.
The results were as follows ;
1) Improvement of cough and expectoration were observed in 41 patients(82%) and in 33 patients (66%) respectively, and total improvement of cough and expectoration was observed in 42 patients (84%) (outstanding in 12 patients, good in 24 patients and fair in 6 patients).
2) Side reactions were developed in 6 patients (12%) ; epigastric discomfort and/or pain in 4 patients, skin rash in 1 patient and leukopenia in 1 patient.
3) Applicability of fominoben on patients with acute respiratory diseases was excellent in 11 patients, good in 23 patients and fair in 7 patients.
